Students pledge to speak up about violence
Students at Jacksonville High School honored the 26 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School by wearing the Sandy Hook color - green - and signing a pledge to report any concerning posts or actions Friday. Throughout the week students participated in a program created by Sandy Hook Promise, a national non-profit organization started by the families of the Sandy Hook victims. Students watched videos discussing the different signs of suicide or plans for a mass shooting. The videos also talked about social media and how to report information to the appropriate person if there is concern about someone harming themselves or others.
